Grand Anse

Grand Anse is located on the south-west side of La Digue. There is no coral reef on this side of the island so the beach is not protected from the open ocean. For this reason here the water is deep and the currents too strong to swim. However, this beach offers exceptional beauty, gorgeous sand, a restaurant and a fruit and coconut stall. This is a wonderful place to spend the whole day at the beach. Be careful about the lack of shades on this beach, so please bring a lot of suncream with you!!!

Grand Anse

Grand Anse is easily reachable by bike, although it is also possible to walk here.  It is a long beach with wonderful white sand and less busy than the other beaches.

Bellevue

If you are keen to do some real exercise, you should hike to Bellevue. There, at the top of the hill, visit the snack bar/restaurant. The panoramic views is unbeatable!! This La Digue establishment is the best place to get a drink/some food while admiring one of the most spectacular views of the islands.

Anse Source d’Argent

What shall I say about Anse Source D’Argent? There should be a reason if it is one of the most photographed beaches of the planet …:)

This is the most amazing place I have seen in my life. If you go to the Seychelles you need to visit La Digue and Anse Source D’Argent. This beach is located on the south-west side of La Digue and it is very easily reachable by bicycle or walks from La Passe (the harbour). However, to get there, you have to pay a fee to enter the Union Estate. Anse Source d’Argent is astonishingly beautiful. The sand is white and the water is shallow and clear. The beach is protected by the coral reef. It is very safe to swim here, except at low tide when the water is extremely shallow.

Anse Source d’Argent

Anse is quite busy between 10.00am and 4.00pm. However, if you stay at La Digue and you do not need to take the jetty in the evening, you could spend a spectacular evening watching a beautiful sunset.

Anse Source d’Argent

If you fancy some coconuts, fruit plates or fruit juices there are three stalls where you can get them, one at the entrance and the other two further down. These are very nice places with music, table and chairs where you can chill and sip your drinks.

Anse Severe

Anse Severe is on the north-west side of La Digue, very close to the harbour and easily accessible by road. It is a very beautful long beach with a lot of trees that protect from the sun.

Anse Severe

The water here is clear, shallow and calm for the majority of time. The beach is protected by the open sea by some coral formations so it is safe to swim. This place is great for snorkelling expecially on the left side of the beach close to the main rocks.

There is also a bar/snack place and a couple of fruit stalls along the beach where you can buy something to eat and refresh.

La Passe – Harbour

The harbour at La Passe is the place where every morning, very early, you can go to buy some fresh fish and some fruit and vegetables. The water is clear and beautiful as in the rest of the island. Here it is always quite busy with locals coming for shopping and tourists disembarking from the jetty to visit the island.

Anse Banane

Anse Banane is located on the east side of La Digue. You have to cycle around to reach this point which is on the other side of La Passe. The view from this beach is really spectacular as it overlooks four of La Digue’s neighbouring islands: Felicité, Marianne, Grande Soeur, and Petite Soeur. Water is not deep and this is not the best beach for swimming.

There is a snack bar/restaurant, Chez Jules, in front of the beach, where you can stop for a drink or some food. The locals suggested to go there for lunch/dinner as it is one of the best restaurants on the island.

Anse Patates

Anse Patates is a small beach located in the north of the island. The water here is very deep as there is no coral reef. If you are lucky enough you can get the chance to see some dolphins on this side of the island. It is quite safe to swim in this area but it is better not to go too far from the shore.

This is an excellent option if you want to spend the day in an empty beach.

Sandy-Toes

My name is Laura and I am really excited to be able to share this new experience with you!!! I have lived in a few cities around Europe, London being the biggest. I have always considered myself a sort of vagabond soul, a nomad always looking for new prospectives of life and the chance to improve myself. My biggest passion is travelling, and while travelling I discovered how amazing the world is. It is incredible to see how many people are living on this planet, how their stories are different and similar at the same time and how we can interact and know more about each other. The world for me has no barriers and I want to explore it with you, sharing my experiences and my curiosity for life.
